“The meaning of the world must lie outside the world.”
— Ludwig Wittgenstein
This piece reflects my interest in the subtle yet enduring connections between people, objects, and landscapes—intangible bonds that quietly shape our lives. The red thread acts as a visible trace of these invisible relationships: one end is tied to the pinky finger, symbolizing promises and commitments, while the other reaches toward another palm, suggesting a shifting pull between closeness and distance.
The work also incorporates my glaze-firing research, in which chromium oxide and tin oxide interact in the kiln to create a soft pink “smoke” effect. This unpredictable ceramic reaction becomes a material metaphor for unseen influence, transformation, and the delicate traces left behind by connection.
