This ceramic-based mixed media installation consists of a mirror frame without a mirror and a vessel without an opening. The work is inspired by my grandmother’s dowry: a walnut dressing table carved with traditional Chinese dragon and phoenix motifs, which has remained in use for more than fifty years.

The dragon-and-phoenix mirror frame carries memories of family, inheritance, and time. Its circular form suggests an endless loop, where emotions and memories return again and again. As the frame appears to dissolve into glass droplets, these fragments drift toward the sealed vessel on the other side.

A thread extends from the mirror frame, pulling a silver needle suspended in mid-air and pointing toward the soft red blush at the center of the vessel. Though the two forms never touch, they remain bound by an invisible attraction, reflecting on distance, memory, and the enduring connections passed across generations.
